Anthony Montesion
Administrative Director
Anthony marched in the Spartans Drum and Bugle Corps from 2002-2006 and was on the visual staff 2007, and 2010-2018. He has held a variety of roles within the Spartans organization over the past two decades, most recently, as Operations Director for the drum corps and as the Administrative Director for Spartans Indoor Percussion.
Anthony has taught numerous high school marching band programs in Massachusetts, including Shepherd Hill Regional High School, helping the group earn 4 USBANDS National Championships and 3 NESBA Championships during his tenure. Anthony has also previously taught at Fitchburg High School and Mansfield High School.
Anthony graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Fitchburg State University then earned his Master of Education in Education Administration from UMASS-Lowell. Anthony currently works as a public school administrator in Massachusetts.

Matt McGuire
Program Coordinator and Front Ensemble Arranger
Matt McGuire is the program coordinator and front ensemble arranger for the Spartans Indoor Percussion Ensemble. For the last few years, Matt has been serving as the program coordinator and front ensemble arranger for the Spartans Drum and Bugle Corps. Matt is currently an active arranger and composer for the marching arts and was the band director and percussion director at Mansfield High School for many years. Currently, Matt is a school administrator with the Mansfield Public School district and he lives in Southeastern Massachusetts with his wife, daughter, and dog Whiskey.
Andy Kim
Ensemble Director and Battery Arranger
Andy Kim is excited to be returning in the roles of Ensemble Director and Battery Arranger for the 2023 season! Andy has been on staff with the Spartans Drum and Bugle Corps since 2013, and is an alumnus of the Spartans (2007-2008) and Carolina Crown (2009-2012), as well as the drum line at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Andy has served as an instructor, arranger, and designer for several programs in New England, including Plymouth High School, Bishop Hendricken High School, King Philip Regional High School, Dartmouth High School, Mansfield High School, and PureFusion Percussion. Outside of the marching arts, Andy holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from UMass Amherst and currently works as a process development scientist at AbbVie.
Adam St. Jean
Visual Designer
Adam St. Jean is eager to be returning in the role of Visual Designer for the 2023 season. Adam has been working with the Spartans organization and its visual program since 2014, including its 2019 DCI Open Class Championship season.
Adam has been teaching, designing, and writing for indoor percussion, band, winter guard, and drum corps since 2004. Notably, he designs the visual program for the Mansfield Indoor Percussion Ensemble including years where they were a WGI Scholastic A Finalist and WGI Scholastic Open Semi-finalist. Additionally, Adam has worked with many other fall, winter, and summer groups that have been highly successful in the WGI, DCI, NESBA, MICCA, and USBands circuits. Beyond the marching arts, Adam holds degrees in Chemical Engineering (B.S.) from Northeastern and UMass Amherst (Ph.D.) and currently works as an Associate Teaching Professor of Biomedical Engineering at UMass Lowell.
Bryson Teel
Electronics Arranger
Originally from Washington state, Bryson Teel is a full time marching arts electronics arranger, educator, and audio engineer residing in Western Massachusetts. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Audio and Music Production w/ a Focus in Percussion Performance from Western Connecticut State University. Bryson has been involved with Spartans since 2019, and actively arranges for drums corps, marching band, indoor percussion, indoor winds, and winter guard.

Joe Weber
Battery Coordinator and Bass Drum Instructor
Joe is excited to be returning for the 2023 season working with the bass drums and acting as battery coordinator. Joe has marched with 7th Regiment (2016-2017), Carolina Crown (2018) and the UMass Drumline (2015-2018). He has previously taught at Framingham High School, Spartans Drum and Bugle Corps, and the University of Connecticut. Joe currently works as a data analyst at CVS Health.
Cam McHugh
Snare Instructor
Cameron McHugh is thrilled to be joining the Spartans instructional team as the snare tech for the 2023 indoor season! Originally from Salem, MA, he is an alumni of the Spartans Drum and Bugle Corps (2017-2021), as well as Spirit Winter Percussion (2019) and Spartans Indoor Percussion (2022).
Cameron has worked with many high school programs and currently serves as the Percussion Director and Battery Coordinator for Burlington High School (MA). He also teaches privately out of Zach Field Drums and Music in Newburyport and Amesbury, MA. He is finishing up his bachelor’s degree in Music Business at UMass Lowell and can be seen drumming for local acts such as Red Ledger and Colin Silva.
Cullen Ryan
Tenor Instructor
Cullen Ryan will return on SIP staff as a tenor instructor. His marching career began with the Spartans and concluded with the Cadets, and since aging out of the activity, he has spent time on staff with a number of school programs throughout Massachusetts including King Philip Regional, North Andover, Oakmont Regional, and Norwood High School. Cullen has also been a part of the Spartans Drum and Bugle Corps percussion staff since the 2016 season.
Outside of the marching world, Cullen is very active in the music industry. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Music Business from UMass Lowell, and works full time at Zildjian and Vic Firth. Cullen also performs and records regularly with a variety of music acts, including Toluca Lake and Class President.
Devan DaCunha
Cymbal Instructor
Devan is a graduate of Dartmouth High School. During his time there he was a member of both the marching band and the indoor percussion program. He has also marched as a member of 7th Regiment and the Oregon Crusaders. Since graduating, he spent two years as the Cymbal tech for Dartmouth Indoor Percussion. This will be Devan’s second year with Spartan’s Indoor Percussion.
Jabari Tovar
Battery Consultant
Jabari is excited to join the team in this new role! He is no stranger to the Spartans family, marching in the drum corps from 2011-2014. During the 2017 season, he joined the percussion staff as the snare technician and served as the battery caption manager from 2019-2021. Jabari earned his B.A. in Music from Salem State University in 2016.
Currently, Jabari is the percussion specialist in the Salem Public Schools (MA) district, where he teaches all the percussion students in grades 4-12. He is also the Percussion Director/Arranger for the Salem High School Marching Band and the Salem High Indoor Percussion ensemble.
Allan Edwards
Visual Instructor
Allan is excited to join the Indoor Percussion Group as a Visual Instructor for 2023 season. He joined on staff with the Spartans Drum and Bugle corps as the bass drum instructor for the 2022 season. His drum corps experience includes Spartans (2017-2019) and Blue Stars (2021), and he also marched with UP2 (2020) and United Percussion (2021-2022).
Allan has been an instructor at Medford High School since the fall of 2019. Outside of marching, he holds a Business Degree from the UMass Lowell with concentrations in Management and M.I.S. He also plans on going back to school in the future for either Finance or a M.B.A.
Nate Kim
Front Ensemble Instructor
Nate is delighted to be returning to the Spartans Indoor Percussion staff for the 2023 season. As a performer, Nate’s experiences include the Spartans Drum and Bugle Corps, UMass Amherst Minuteman Marching Band, and The Cadets. He has taught several front ensembles in the New England area, most recently working with the King Philip High School Marching Band.
