Since 1955, The Spartans Drum and Bugle Corps has provided exceptional experiences, education, and performance opportunities for our members. The COVID-19 pandemic has created challenges for all facets of our lives, and the drum corps community is no exception. Our top priority at the Spartans has always been the health and safety of our members, along with the meaningful and life-changing experiences that come along with being a Spartan.
When Drum Corps International announced their plans for a drum corps experience for the 2021 season, we wrestled with the decision to participate, weighing all factors for the organization and our members. Ultimately, the Spartans have notified DCI that we will not participate in the abbreviated 2021 experience. Instead, the Spartans will spend the next several months on further developing our offerings to ensure that 2022 is the next step in our continued evolution. Our 2019 Production, Experiment X, was only the beginning of what we have in store. We must focus on building a fiscally responsible future while providing opportunities for our members that are safe and meaningful. We want to ensure a future of many drum corps seasons that exceed expectations.
We welcome our members to stay active with us by participating in our Virtual Training program (spartansdbc.org/join). We hope to turn our Virtual Training program into in-person experiences during the summer of 2021, or as soon as it is safe, legal, and practical to do so.
